I like both, but the second one is my favourite, it looks like a photo.

Is the fabric in the second image just a texture or modeled?

@Taros: I'd say it's evident it's a texture, it shows at the border.

It appears to be a chainmail-pattern. Maybe you should experiment with displacement to get more depth into it. The inlets on the hilt could show some indents too, they look perfectly flat.

Still very solid work, though!

Whoa, awesome renderings. Which 3d-application is it?
